Students enrolling in courses taught at UM's Fitness and Recreation Center must present a Griz Card validating that the Campus Recreation Fee has been paid for that semester.

- There are additional fees with some courses that are noted with that course.
- Attendance policy strictly enforced- classes missed prior to and after late registration count towards total absences allowed.

HHP 111 Dodgeball
In introduction to the sport of Dodgeball following NADA (National Amateur Dodgeball Association) and IDBF (International Dodge Ball Federation) rules of play. Topics covered will include team play, indoor field play, equipment, throwing tactics, evasive maneuvers, opening rush, timing and rules. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Appropriate Dress.
HHP 116 Fundamentals of Fencing
An introduction to the sport of Olympic Fencing. Students will be introduced to the basic elements of fencing, including proper equipment use, the rules of the sport, elements of dueling, basic techniques, and proper body positioning and movement for swordplay. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Full length pants, tennis or indoor closed shoes. Equipment Provided: Protective Vests, Foils, Masks and Underarm guards.
HHP 167 Bellydance
This course will provide a foundation in basic movements, rhythms, history, and culture as it relates to Middle Eastern dance. Explore the difference between various styles of dance while increasing flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength, improved balance, coordination, and posture. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Appropriate Dress, loose fitting clothing.
HHP 167 Introduction to Hula
Learn basics of Hula as well as background and fundamentals of the Hawaiian dance. This class will explore hula implements, hula Kahiko, Tahitian and Maori dances. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Appropriate Dress, loose fitting clothing.
HHP 167 Tribal Style Belly Dance
This class explores the basic movements of the improvisational language of Tribal Belly Dance. Emphasis is placed on posture and will focus on core strength, isolations, musical interpretation, and improvisation. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Appropriate dress, loose fitting clothing.
HHP 171 AKK Kenpo (AKK Martial Arts, 1900 Brooks St. #8)
Kenpo is a diverse class, incorporating movements, techniques and tools from various other martial arts. It has techniques from both hard and soft styles, and utilizes multiple strikes, joint locks, throws and other means. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Appropriate dress.
HHP 178 Classical Dressage (Treasure State Equestrian Center)

This class will work on developing the classical, balanced, riding position. As well as review the training of a horse through movement and exercises, known as “Dancing with Horses.” Pre-requisite for this class is HHP 178 Horse Care or permission from instructor. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Long pants and boots with heel. Equipment provided: horses, helmets, saddles, and tack.
HHP 178 Natural Horsemanship (Treasure State Equestrian Center)

Review training the horse through methods based on horse communication and body language. Work on becoming a leader that the horse trusts and respects. Pre-requisite for this class is HHP 178 Horse Care or permission from instructor. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Long pants and boots with heel. Equipment provided: horses, helmets, saddles, and tack.
HHP 178 3-Day Eventing/Jumping (Treasure State Equestrian Center)

This class will review horse training and riding based on three distinct tests: Dressage, Cross Country Jumping, and Stadium Jumping. Pre-requisite for this class is HHP 178 Horse Care or permission from instructor. Graded Credit/No Credit. Equipment Needs: Long pants and boots with heel. Equipment provided: horses, helmets, saddles, and tack.
