Administrative Policies
Health & Human Performance classes #100-179 are activity classes that are graded Credit/No Credit. The grade is based on attendance and participation. Activity classes do not meet during finals week.
Activity classes are Health & Human Performance lab classes and meet for a total of 30 hours each semester. Students cannot miss more than 6 hours of class. There are no excused absences. This includes documented medical illness/injury, family emergency, sleeping in, missing class to study for a test, or you stayed out too late the night before. USE YOUR 6 HOURS AS YOU SEE FIT. Arriving late or leaving class early will count as an absence. Missing 7 or more hours will result in a grade of NCR. There are four make-up classes scheduled at the end of the semester.
If you experience a significant event (for example, a documented extended illness, major injury, or the death of an immediate family member) the Activity Class Director will work with you to arrange alternative make-up options, extend the allowed number absences or assist you with class withdrawal. Please see your instructor immediately if you have special needs related to your attendance. DO NOT wait until the end of the semester!
Students who add an Activity Class during the first three weeks of the semester should be aware that any classes missed prior to adding the class will count as towards their allotted absences. Students who add late should confirm how many absences they have left with their instructor when they add.
Meeting this attendance policy is the student's responsibility. Be sure to sign the attendance sheet at every class. To verify your status, check with your instructor.
Signing a friend’s name on the attendance sheet is a violation of the Student Conduct Code and the HHP Department may choose to pursue disciplinary action. (Facilitating academic dishonesty: Knowingly helping or attempting to help another commit an act of academic dishonesty, including assistance in an arrangement whereby any work, classroom performance, examination activity, or other academic exercise is submitted or performed by a person other than the student under whose name the work is submitted or performed.)
