Description
The Masters Degree in School Counseling offered through the School of Education at The University of Montana is a 51 credit program of study. This program provides students with the coursework necessary for becoming licensed school counselors in the state of Montana . In addition, consistent with CACREP national standards, the program requires that students obtain at least 700 hours of supervised school counseling experience, 600 of which must occur within an appropriate school setting. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following programs in the Counselor Education Program in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at The University of Montana School of Education: Mental Health Counseling (M.A.) and School Counseling (M.A.).
