Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral Program Description

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers the doctoral degree that prepares educational professionals who will work with K-12 classrooms and teachers as curriculum specialists and with teacher education programs as university faculty. The programmatic themes of integration of ideas, cooperative endeavors, and respect for learning and individual worth guide the instruction in classes and in field experiences. Programs are designed with specific needs and interests of participants in mind. Faculty with expertise in multiple educational areas work side-by-side with students as they progress through classes and their individual dissertation research. Doctoral students are encouraged to propose research projects from a range of research designs, from ethnographic studies to experimental models.
