Admission
Individuals who wish to be considered for admission to the Special Education endorsement program at the University of Montana must:
- Have a GPA of 2.75 or better (this includes undergraduate, graduate, and transfer credits). NOTE: Special Education coursework taken more than 7 years previously will NOT be accepted in the current endorsement program.
- Have elementary or secondary certification OR be in the process of completing a certification program and have at least junior class standing.
- Submit one copy of this application, and one copy of transcripts to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Room 210, Education Building. All applications are reviewed and approved by the Special Education Admissions Committee. Applicants will receive written notification of their acceptance or non-acceptance into the Special Education program. Applications are reviewed three times each year: Due dates are October 1, March 1 and June 1.
- After receiving notification of admittance to the program, students should schedule a meeting with their Special Education faculty advisor to develop a program plan. Program plans must be approved by the advisor in order for internships to be arranged. Internships are arranged through the Director of Field Experiences in the Teacher Education Office.
