Admission
Students are eligible for consideration for admission (deadlines: September 15 and February 15) if they have:
- Gained admission to the University of Montana
- Completed 30 semester university credits
- A minimum cumulative GPA (including all transfer credits) of 2.75
- Completed an introductory psychology course and an English composition course
- Evidence of their writing ability by means of a brief essay
- Appropriate experience with youth
- Supportive recommendations from at least two faculty members
Prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program, usually at the end of sophomore year, students are considered pre-education majors and are advised by the Academic Advising Office.
Degree Holding Students
- May submit transcripts for review to determine how previous course work applies
- May earn a second baccalaureate degree, depending on field chosen and previous degree
- May complete certification combined with a master's degree in the elementary or secondary program
- Should enroll with the Admissions Office under the designation post-baccalaureate student (unless pursuing a graduate degree
